Abrupt awakening for many inhabitants of the Campi Flegrei: this morning, in fact, the earth began to tremble again in the caldera of the supervolcano. The earthquake was recorded at 7.23 am today, Tuesday 4 June, in the area between Solfatara, in Pozzuoli, and Pisciarelli, on the western outskirts of Naples: the seismic event had a magnitude of 1.9 on the Richter scale. Many, as mentioned, distinctly felt the earthquake which, as often happens in the Campi Flegrei caldera, was accompanied by a roar.
The Municipality of Pozzuoli has also alerted citizens regarding this morning’s seismic event. On social media, the Flegrean municipal administration wrote: “The Vesuvian Observatory has communicated to this administration the occurrence of a seismic event of magnitude 1.9 ± 0.3 located in the Solfatara Volcano area. The earthquake occurred at 7 am :23, local time, at a depth of 2.6 km. The event may have been accompanied by a roar felt by the inhabitants of the area close to the epicenter.”
