FANO – The presence of an organization that controls and exploits unaccompanied immigrant minors in our territory, denounced by the coordinator of the Social Territorial Area Roberta Galdenzi, is confirmed by Fabio Sorgoni, responsible for the “Trafficking of minors exploitation” area of the On The Road association which also operates in the Marche region.

The clash between gangs

The phenomenon mainly involves young people aged 16 to 18 who come from the sub-Saharan area and in particular from Tunisia and Egypt and, as regards the East, from Bangladesh. It was between the Tunisians and the Egyptians that a two-stage clash developed which resulted in the attack along Via Arco d’Augusto on March 30th, a reaction to the brawl the previous evening in Sassonia. Two linked episodes of urban violence, perhaps caused by a drug issue, for which the Police Headquarters intervened by issuing 7 oral warnings and 6 urban daspos against the protagonists for whom criminal proceedings are being prosecuted. These are prevention measures, in particular the daspo entail the prohibition of access to urban areas and to all public establishments where alcoholic drinks are served, such as bars, fast food outlets, recreational clubs, public entertainment venues, such as discos and disco pubs , present in the municipality of Fano every day of the week starting from 7pm and until closing time.

«For many years – highlighted Fabio Sorgoni – we also had underage Nigerian girls in the Marche region who were forced into prostitution because they ended up in the network of a racket of which they were totally enslaved. Now the phenomenon has attenuated due to the increase in controls that have been carried out at the border between Niger and Nigeria. Often underage boys and girls leave with debts to repay, debts incurred to pay for the trip which, once in Italy, they are unlikely to be able to repay unless they end up in a ring of illegal activities or forced to carry out low-paid jobs. Many end up fueling drug dealing.”

The problem, according to Sorgoni, arises in the reception centers where minors are housed as soon as they land in our country and perhaps they are not happy, but it arises even more when, having reached the age of majority, they lose any type of assistance. Sometimes the protection period is extended by a few months, but in the end the young people are forced to fend for themselves and it is at this moment that, by meeting a compatriot or being eyed by a specific organisation, they end up in a tunnel from which it is difficult to escape.

The countermeasure

Which means that once trapped they remain prisoners. The fate is to feed the micro-dealing on the street. «In the assistance centers – added Sorgoni – it is important to work to ensure accommodation and work for the children who will then leave the structure». Significant is the protocol signed by the On The Road association with the Juvenile Court in Abruzzo which provides for reports, contacts and checks with minors at risk in order to prevent any deviations; protocol which is achieving good results which should be replicated in the Marche region also for our territory.
