Speaking in the studio at Telenorth for the weekly episode of We Are Genoathe CEO of Genoa Andres Blazquez he took stock of the market and the strengthening in perspective: “Frendrup shouldn’t be sold, he’s a pillar. I’d like to keep Spence, he’s doing well but it doesn’t depend on us: if it were up to him he would stay at Genoa”.
“We have strong young players like Fini, Accornero and Marcandalli and our objective – he argues – is to put together a 40 million squad that will lead us to reach a European competition. To date we are still below, this year with 40 million we have done better than other teams and it will take more time to improve. Next year I want to make more revenue and in a year we can think about being competitive. We are in a good place in defence, perhaps we need a right back: not just Zanoli, there are some about ten. In midfield we are looking for an attacking midfielder.”
“Maybe the goalkeeper leaves – he underlines – and we will look for one. Not everything is known about Martinez but I want the parameters to be clear, he is worth more than 15 million but it doesn’t depend on us. Sometimes the agents look after their interests, but the world is small. Kotarsky is strong but we are not the only ones on him”.
