The broken shutter, the empty cash register and the shop turned upside down. This is what the owners of the bar at the Aprilia station found when they arrived, after being called to report a theft in progress.
The criminals took advantage of the darkness of the night to try to carry out the heist. They thought they could grab a nice loot and with the ram car they went in front of the station bar, sure that no one would disturb them.
The loot… from a few coffees
The thieves acted around one o’clock last night. With a car they arrived at full speed against the shutter of the room, managing to bend it and force it. Thus they managed to enter. Once inside, they quickly headed towards the cash register, where they took all the cash: just 80 euros.
The damage done to the Ariete car was much more significant: both the shutter and the glass door were destroyed, resulting in economic damage of thousands of euros.
Bar targeted several times
It is not the first time that the station bar has been targeted for thefts of this type. A similar one happened in September 2018. At that time, however, the criminals, despite the shutter being destroyed with the same technique, were unable to take anything away.
This night the Aprilia carabinieri intervened on site and immediately started investigations to try to trace the members of the split gang. The military maintains the strictest confidentiality about the searches, for which the images from the surveillance cameras in the area will be useful.
