Manfredonia. Our city is going through a profound political crisis. In recent years, understandably, citizens’ participation and interest in the administrative life of our city have drastically decreased. This disinterest has created a dangerous disconnect between the population and politics, with negative consequences for all of us.
The Civic Observatory was born from the idea of a group of friends. We firmly believe that change is only possible through collective commitment, which starts from the bottom. We want to give citizens back the power to influence decisions that affect their future, carefully monitoring the work of the future administration and promoting bottom-up civic processes.
To avoid exploitation, it must be specified from the outset that the Observatory is and will remain an impartial body, without any sympathy for one or the other politician on duty. Our only interest is the good of the community. We want every citizen to feel heard and represented. We are here to act as a bridge between the population and the administration, ensuring that the promises made are kept and that the needs of the citizens always come first during the coming years of the council.
Our activity will begin from the first day of the next administration’s inauguration. In the meantime, we are following the election campaign very carefully. We will then divide into thematic groups to monitor step by step the actions that the future administration will implement.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish the four mayoral candidates a good last week of the election campaign. May it be a week of constructive discussion and open dialogue, avoiding incorrectness and exploitation, for the good of our beloved Manfredonia.
