The view over the crowd is incredible and is the response to a show that will remain in the history of Lucca and beyond. Grit and passion to spare. At 79 years old, the guitar god Eric Clapton returned after 18 years to the stage of the Summer Festival and he did so with a contagious energy in a show that left the almost twenty thousand fans from all over Italy and from abroad.

It’s the first big concert in the stands of this record-breaking edition. The rain that fell for almost the entire afternoon yesterday suggested the worst, but in the end it didn’t ruin the party for the many fans, among whom there were also well-known faces such as Zucchero and Beppe Grillo. The legendary British guitarist took to the stage at Summer bringing a message of peace, holding a guitar in the colors of the Palestinian flag. Opening the show was “Blue dust”, intense and engaging, followed by “Key to the highway”, a classic that talks about travel and the search for freedom. Clapton played for an hour and a half non-stop. And in the end the delirious fans left their seats and ran under the stage to the tune of Cocaine to applaud the great guitarist who gave the only Italian date in Lucca.
