BOLOGNA- A yellow ‘Rock’ train hurtles along the tracks of Emilia-Romagna. He left from Milan and travel quickly to Ancona. On the livery the unmistakable profile of three Italian cycling champions, Gino Bartali, Fausto Coppi and Marco Pantani. AND’ the yellow train of Trenitalia Tper which celebrates the “grand départ of the Tour del France” from Italy: departure from Florence on 29 June, then Rimini, Bologna up to Piedmont before the return of the Grande Boucle to French soil.

THE SILHOUETTES OF THE GREATS ON THE SIDE

For the entire duration of the Tour, until July 21st, the regional train will wear the yellow ‘jersey’ of the first in the ranking, a livery with the colors and brand of the race interspersed with the profile of the monuments of the cities where the race will stop (Florence, Rimini, Cesenatico, Bologna, Piacenza up to Turin). Created with the technical support of Trenitalia Tper, the train arrived this morning at Bologna central station for the official ribbon cutting.

NOT JUST SPORT, ALSO TOURISM AND GREEN MOBILITY

“There couldn’t have been a better day to inaugurate this yellow train, because today is World Bicycle Day. It’s nice that when we talk about a race, a sporting event, we also talk about tourism and sustainable mobility. A few weeks and we will be at this start that we have been waiting for months, I can’t wait”, says the president of Apt Emilia-Romagna, the former cycling champion Davide Cassani. “The passage of the Tour will have a global impact, because it is a race that is seen in the world. For our territory it is important, because it will give the world the opportunity to see our excellence, our beauties, everything good we can show“, explains Cassani.

FROM MILAN TO ANCONA

“We asked ourselves how Trenitalia Tper could be ‘used’ to convey the event and a message on sustainable mobility. We thought we’d convey the positive image of a major sporting event on one of the most used routes by commuters on the journey from Milan to Ancona. For me, having the start of the Tour means bringing the Olympics to Emilia-Romagna for three days“, adds the regional transport councilor, Andrea Corsini.

“GINETTACCIO WOULD LIKE IT”

“For a unique occasion, a unique train was needed. It will be visible every day on the Via Emilia route, from Ancona to Milan. Many will see it”, underlines the CEO of Trenitalia Tper, Alessandro Tullio. “It’s an incredible source of pride. My grandfather would be very happy“, he assures Joy Bartali, nephew of the ‘Ginettaccio’, who runs in profile on the side of the train, the unmistakable profile of his “nose as sad as a climb, those cheerful eyes of an Italian on a trip”
