PALERMO – “The integration of the directive on seaside villages is good news of Palermo which, thanks to our intervention, now also includes the areas of Acquasanta and Arenella. Now, however, we need to intervene on pedestrianization in Mondello which is creating perplexity and confusion.” He declares it Carolina VarchiPalermo deputy of the Brothers of Italy.

“In the case of the exclusion of two important and populous seaside villages – he adds – we are certain it was a technical error and for this reason I personally asked Mayor Lagalla for an intervention, whom I thank for the sensitivity with which he accepted my request for common sense. TONow, however, we will need to intervene on another front: the Mondello area must be pedestrianized effectively and logically”.
“The latest directive is generating only chaos and may even produce a paradoxical effect: in Mondello the noise of the sea risks being drowned out by that of the mufflers, engines and horns. Obviously it is not an acceptable prospect and for this reason we are now available for a discussion with categories and citizens – concludes Varchi – which can lead to a final decision consistent with the legitimate, great ambitions tourists of a city like Palermo”.
