The one and a half year old girl who was hit by an SUV this afternoon in Brescia, in the car park of the Little England nursery school in via Caduti del Lavoro, did not make it while she was hand in hand with her 80 year old grandmother. At the wheel of the car was another grandmother who was carrying out a maneuver in the square when, for reasons yet to be ascertained, she did not notice the presence of the little girl and her grandmother and hit them both.
The 118 men quickly arrived at the scene of the accident, finding the little girl already in cardiac arrest. Despite efforts to resuscitate her on site and emergency transport to the Civil hospital, her serious injuries proved fatal and the little girl died shortly after arriving at the hospital. The grandmother, however, was transported under code yellow to the Sant’Anna clinic: although she is in shock, her life is not in danger.
The circumstances of the accident are still under investigation by the Local Police, who have already acquired images from the institute’s surveillance cameras to clarify the dynamics of the incident. The driver of the SUV is currently under investigation for vehicular homicide and injuries.
