Alvaro Odriozolalow forward of Real Sociedad and former Fiorentina (he played for Viola on loan in the 2021/22 season, the first with Italian on the bench) gave a long interview to the Basque newspaper News from Gipuzkoa in which he touched on various topics: “When I left the first time I didn’t have clear ideas, I would only have left to go to Real Madrid. People forget that I made my debut in January and my contract expired in June, I would have I was able to leave for free. Many European clubs paid me nice bonuses, but I didn’t want to leave. Then Real Madrid arrived and, I’ll tell you honestly, everyone knows I’m for them.
Were you sorry that you weren’t able to establish yourself in Madrid?
“No, because I gave everything I had in my body, my conscience is very clear and I don’t regret anything. I don’t look back but at the present… And there are no things to reproach anyone for. If I didn’t have chances are because either I didn’t deserve them or I wasn’t good enough, then I went to Florence where I had a magnificent year I thought I would have played more, but it didn’t happen and everything changed in a chimera, in an illusion. I could no longer hit a wall…”.
Speaking of Fiorentina, how did it go?
“I always say that if you have the opportunity to play in Italy, do it: there you experience football in another dimension. In Florence it is a religion. There is a union between club and city that reminded me so much of Real Sociedad, Then I also met Vincenzo Italiano: he showed me everything differently, he held a masterclass on football. It was a fantastic year, we played for everything and qualified for Europe injured but I had a lot of fun: I’m a Florentine all my life.
