Environment, Mazzoncini: “Brescia is achieving many European objectives”

“Brescia is a city that is achieving many of the European objectives well in advance, thanks to the investments made by A2A and the collaboration with citizens”. Thus spoke the director of the multi-utility Renato Mazzoncini at the microphone on Èlive, on the sidelines of the hearing in the Commission where the investment plan for the next few years was presented.

22 billion in Italy, 13 in Lombardy and 3 in Brescia of which 1.8 in the city. These are, in a nutshell, the numbers of A2A’s investments between now and 2035. Our capital is one of those that benefits most from this plan. The main focus is on water and electricity networks. In particular, this second theme develops in Val Trompia where A2A has acquired the network from Enel and will enter into management starting next year.

In the times in which we live, the electricity grid is more fundamental than ever: “The developments of the grid are essential to achieve the objectives of Fit for 55 and decarbonisation – adds Mazzoncini – allowing our citizens to use heat pumps, induction hobs, electric cars. But also for companies to be able to electrify their consumption as much as possible.”

On the water network front, however, the objective is to reduce losses as much as possible. Even though we are experiencing a year in which there is no shortage of rain, the statistics still tell of long dry periods and it goes without saying that an important resource like water cannot be wasted.

As mentioned at the beginning, Mazzoncini reports a city that is nevertheless virtuous in respecting the objectives: in fact the Brescian data on the waste cycle would be totally levelled, for green houses district heating is playing a fundamental role and on the aforementioned Fit for 55 for the The shutdown of coal in Lamarmora in 2020 was critical to reducing emissions, as was the reduction in the use of gas.
