“Once again the municipal administration of Reggio Calabria launches an attack on the green and arboreal heritage of the city. After having hurled itself against the palm trees of the Falcomatà seafront, having cut down hundreds of trees throughout the city, it is the turn of the green areas of Piazza Milano.
From one day to the next, the citizens residing in the areas adjacent to Piazza Milano saw the area between Via Palmi and Piazza Milano fenced off and after a few days, with incredible ferocity, a beautiful hedge and at least a dozen trees were uprooted without mercy. among other things, some valuable ones such as 4 multiflora Magnolias, some Jacaranda mimosifolia trees and other beautiful trees that at least embellished this area just outside the city center”.

Rules regarding the enhancement of green areas and plant formations in urban areas.
(BURC no. 31 of 8 February 2024).
In particular we cite article 8 in paragraph 1:
“In order to guarantee the conservation and renewal of the arboreal heritage or of the hedges or of the perennial shrub and herbaceous components uprooted, for each tree felled or for each hedge or perennial shrub and herbaceous component uprooted, the planting, respectively, of two or more trees belonging to the same species, except in cases of invasive alien species, to be carried out, within the limits of the Municipalities’ budget availability, within six months from the date of the felling authorisation”.
