“Giorni di Tuono” is back, the comics, music and cinema festival in Pisa

Pisa, 3 June 2024 – Return to PisaDays of Thunder”, the comics, music and cinema festival in the name of Combed Thunder, famous cartoonist and illustrator from Pisa. After the success of the first two editions, this year the festival, organized by Tuono Pettinato Foundation with the contribution of Municipality of Pisawill take place from Friday 7 to Sunday 9 June. The program is full of guests and events, all of them Free admission.

The festival was born in 2022 to celebrate Tuono Pettinato, pseudonym of Andrea Paggiaro, who died on June 14, 2021 at the age of 44, after a long illness. The cartoonist, particularly known for graphic novels including “Nevermind” (Rizzoli Lizard, 2014), dedicated to Nirvana singer Kurt Cobain, and “We Are the Champions” (2016) on the life of Freddy Mercury and Queen, he is remembered as one of the brightest of his generation. Among the main exhibitions scheduled at the festival, the Graphics Museum will host the original plates of “Nevermind”, recently reissued. During Days of Thunder there will also be the award ceremony for the third edition of Thunder Combed Awardwon by “ Malanight. The Curse of the Pant muggy” Of Marco Taddei And The Came (author of this edition’s poster), to whom an exhibition of the panels taken from the comic will be dedicated at Studio Gennai.

Among the guests, Bruno Bozzettoauthor of extraordinary animated films such as “Allegro non tanto” and “West and Soda”, who will present his autobiography “Mr. Bozzetto”, written together with Simone Tempiaand his latest cinematographic work “Sapiens?”; Adriano Carnevalicreator of the mythical “Ronfi”, which recently became an animated series for Rai YoYo; Mario Natangelocartoonist for Il Fatto Quotidiano, who will talk about his recent graphic novel “Ash”; Silvia Zichefamous Disney designer, and more Davide Toffolo, Vincenzo Filosa, Alessandro Baronciani and many others.

During the festival, you can also visit the exhibition of comics created by girls and boys from the Pisan schools involved in the workshop “Magnificent Lavatives”, a comics course which involved over 350 primary and lower secondary students with exceptional teachers such as Alice Milani, Giovanni Timpano and Margherita Meini.
