Samuele Cannizzaro, councilor for Ecology of the Municipality of Modica, speaks of “a very intense weekend. It’s what we put behind us and which experienced, yesterday morning, the always significant moment of Blue flag hoisted on our beaches. Blue Flag is the asserted certification of the healthiness of our sea, of the environmental respect that we put in place, of the protection of the ecosystem and of the flora and fauna in it, of the quality of the services that we know and want to offer in our seaside resorts. The symbol of all this is the flag that will fly on our beaches again this summer and in the lidos that live on our beaches”.
“This – Cannizzaro continues – is the fourth summer that the Modica beaches have been awarded the Blue Flag; a path that marks its beginning in 2021 with the administration of Ignazio Abbate and which we are carrying forward in full compliance with the rules. Being among the 11 Sicilian locations where the symbol that recognizes the quality of the marine environment, the cleanliness of the sea, the respect for good practices that govern territorial policies flies, is a source of great satisfaction for us. Together with the mayor Maria Monisteri, our fellow councilors and the representatives of the authorities of our city, a representative of the city council, the managers of the Ecology Office, yesterday with a sober ceremony we celebrated a moment which certifies the satisfaction of the 32 requirements which imply to obtain the Blue Flag. And we are working immediately to ensure that it is also confirmed for the next season”.
