VIDEO INTERVIEW Carmen Severino (Forza Aversa): “I will fight to restore dignity to abandoned neighborhoods. They only come here when we vote”

She is a combative young woman who dreams of making a concrete contribution to solving the city’s thorniest problems. Carmen Severino, running on the Forza Aversa list for a seat on the city council, welcomed us to her electoral committee in the Unrra Casas neighborhood. “Here – she says to Italia Notizie – are my roots, here I grew up with my parents and my grandparents. If I am elected I will fight for the redevelopment of an area where politicians usually come only when it comes to asking for the vote, but then disappear.” With the microphones off, she confesses to us that she will be “on the front line with Forza Aversa even in the event of a failed election because this neighborhood cannot remain in decay”. At her side Tommaso Longobardi, candidate on the same list. Accompanied by both of us, we film what should be a children’s park which in reality is completely abandoned. The streets are full of potholes, the pavements are partially destroyed, benches in disrepair, weeds everywhere and rubbish containers with which it is difficult to try, given the terrible conditions, to separate waste. We’re sorry to say it, but the first thought that came to mind was: “Here it doesn’t feel like being in Aversa, it seems like a world apart.” Carmen ran for office for the first time precisely to make Unrra Casas a “normal” neighborhood like many others in the city. It’s not easy. The problems are many. But Severino has no intention of giving up. She accepted the challenge. And we are certain that she will work hard because there is a piece of her life here and because those who live there deserve to live in better, at least decent, conditions. Let’s hope that for once Unrra Casas isn’t just an electoral pool abandoned to its fate a second after the vote. It is hoped that the voters of this neighborhood can for once place their trust in a smart young woman like Carmen Severino. Hopefully this area will not be a “land of conquest” again for the thieves of the future.
