Tuesday June 4th, at 5.30pmat the CESTRIM Hall, in Via Sinni, a Potenza, the Potenza Peace Committee organize the presentation of the book “J’accuse. The attacks of October 7, Hamas, terrorism, Israel, apartheid in Palestine and the war” by Francesca Albanese.

The author, United Nations special rapporteur on the occupied Palestinian territories, will be connected remotelytogether with the co-author, the journalist Christian Elia.

The presentation of the book will constitute a moment of reflection and in-depth analysis on serious situation in the Gaza Strip and in the occupied territories (West Bank and East Jerusalem) and will be able to provide a tool for interpreting the facts of October 7, of what comes before that date and what will be after.

Francesca Albanese, since 2022, is Special Rapporteur for the United Nations on the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, with the task of monitoring violations of human rights and international law in the West Bank, East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip.

Former United Nations official and researcher at the Institute for the Study of International Migrations at Georgetown University in Washington, she is the author of numerous publications, including a fundamental text for understanding the Israeli-Palestinian situation (Palestinian Refugees in International Law).

His experience and expertise on these matters are well known, so much so the major international media (BBC, CNN, Al Jazeera and others) consult it on developments in the situation every time it publishes a new report, which is presented to the UN General Assembly and the Human Rights Council.

Christian Elia is a journalist who, since the late 1990s, has covered the Middle East and the Balkans, migration and memory.

He is one of the founders of PeaceReporter and E, the Emergency monthly magazine, where he worked as a correspondent from 2003 to 2012.

With his reportages he has chronicled conflicts and human rights violations from the Gaza Strip to Afghanistan, from Iraq to Kurdistan. Made in more than forty countries, they have been published by the main Italian newspapers and have won numerous awards.
