SENIGALLIA Twelve year old robbed by a baby gang on Ponte Zavatti. The incident, which occurred in April, was brought to light by the boy’s father who invited people to report it, certain that it was not an isolated incident. «My son had gone to the fast food restaurant in Via Bruno to get a sandwich – says the professional from Senigallia –, it was in the afternoon, still daylight, and since he wasn’t far from home I let him go alone».

Fear

The 12-year-old, however, returned upset. «He told me that, while he was crossing the Zavatti bridge, he was approached by a group of kids – continues the parent –, one of them even had a knife in his hand. They told him to hand over all the money he had. To tell the truth he didn’t have many, he only had a few change with him after purchasing the sandwich. He gave them to them and they let him go.”

They didn’t brandish the knife against him but one of the baby gang was holding it in his hand. She had shown it perhaps to intimidate him in case he did not comply with their request. «I immediately filed a complaint with the police – adds the father – but, unfortunately, after a month it has still not been possible to trace them. My son had never seen them before. What happened to him will surely happen to others. It is necessary for everyone to report to stop them.” The 12-year-old’s parents were calm about letting him walk a few hundred meters to go buy a sandwich, because he would have passed along via Bruno and Ponte Zavatti which are always busy, especially in the afternoon.

Passing motorists certainly cannot think of a robbery when they see a group of kids stopping another. Moreover, on a bridge where you pass without paying too much attention to the details of what is happening around. For the parents, traffic was supposed to be a guarantee of safety, which the baby gang did not fear. The 12-year-old, taken aback and scared of what the consequences might be, complied with them and ran home. Ponte Zavatti is located near Stradone Misa, where on Friday evening the Carabinieri and police stopped a Moroccan who, shortly before, had attempted to rob a woman.

The other alarm

He had blocked her at the footbridge and asked her for money, otherwise he would not have let her pass. She managed to escape, calling the police who arrived in record time. Once stopped, the man was entrusted to the health workers and hospitalized in the psychiatry department. He had thrown a fit. The victim did not want to press charges. Not far away are two similar episodes but with totally different contexts. A group of kids, who robbed a peer, and a Moroccan who tried, and failed, to do the same with a woman.
