Potenza, “Italian Republic Day” and “Corpus Domini” – Video

The “Italian Republic Holiday” was established to commemorate the birth of the Italian Republic.

The day is celebrated every year on June 2nd.

It is the date of the institutional referendum of 1946, with the main celebration taking place in Rome, in the Italian capital.

In Basilicata, the festive moment was also remembered in Potenza.

Civil and military authorities, together with the Prefect, Michele Campanarothey laid a laurel wreath at the war memorial in the Montereale Park.

The event continued in the historic center of the city, in Piazza Mario Pagano, where the flag-raising ceremony took place, with the joint military units deployed and the various combat and military associations and, finally, in the evening, the the day ended inside the municipal theater “Francesco Stabile” with the delivery of some honors.

All this also happened in conjunction with the Procession of “Corpus Christi“, between the city streets and the return to the Cathedral.
