It was an evening full of emotions that marked the final event of the first edition of the “Mario Colamartino Journalism Award”, named after the late journalist from Corato who passed away last September after fighting a serious illness.
Many guests took part in the awards ceremony, which took place inside the elegant Palazzo Gioia in Corato. There are many who, in various capacities, were linked to the figure of the late journalist from Corato, to whom the award is named, and who shared life and professional paths with him.
The event, organized by LiveNetwork and the local periodical Lo Stradone, enjoyed the patronage of the Order of Journalists of Puglia, the Metropolitan City of Bari and the Municipality of Corato, and was supported by Confimi Bari – Bat and Foggia, Foundation Casillo, Cannillo Foundation and Granoro.
The award, established to celebrate excellence in journalism and to remember the work and professional legacy of Colamartino, saw the participation of numerous journalists and reporters from all over Italy. During the evening, those present were able to hear testimonies about the life and career of the late journalist, described by all as a passionate professional and a man of great integrity and kindness.
The “Mario Colamartino Journalism Award” aims to become an annual event, an opportunity to enhance quality journalism and to remember a figure who has left an indelible mark in the hearts of many colleagues and readers.
With this first edition, we wanted to start a tradition which, in addition to honoring the memory of Mario Colamartino, will continue to promote the values of truth, passion and dedication that characterized his journalistic work.
The winners
The jury, made up of representatives of the sponsoring and supporting bodies, analyzed the dozens of contributions received from journalists from all over Italy and drew up the list of winners of the prize, worth one thousand euros for each of the four competing categories. Also assign some mentions for particularly valuable works.

The service, broadcast on TeleDehon, delicately and effectively recounts the experience of the “Fratelli tutti” day center which in Melpignano, in the province of Lecce, takes care of children with disabilities, giving them hope and smiles. A testimony of great humanity that deserves to be known.

We are in the Dara-i-Suf district, a remote province of Afghanistan, an area of hunger and mining. The reportage, published in La Repubblica on Friday, tells in a lucid and realistic way the harsh living conditions of men, women and children, oppressed by the Taliban but even more crushed by sanctions.
TERRITORY PROMOTION SECTION
Winner: Maria Cristina De Carlo
MOTIVATION OF THE JURY
From night to dawn, the story of the pilgrimage of the faithful of Sant’Alberto who from Pietramontecorvino reach Monte Corvino, in the Foggia area. The journey, described in a suggestive manner in the report broadcast on TRM Network, is characterized as a colorful caravan which, thanks to the height of the palii and the waving of the shawls tied to them, makes its progress visible even from many kilometers away , allowing those who remain in the town to follow the statue of Sant’Alberto.

The reportage, broadcast on TRM Network, was created in Melpignano on the occasion of the latest edition of La Notte della Taranta. It is a passionate work that well describes an event that has become over time a true identifying feature of the Apulian territory in the world.

MOTIVATION OF THE JURY
A very particular point of view on the derby between Fidelis Andria and Barletta. Reciting the letters of the alphabet one by one, the article published on Barlettaviva recalls anecdotes, protagonists and atmospheres of a truly heartfelt football match.

MOTIVATION OF THE JURY
The blue epic in Puglia. The article, published in the newspaper “L’Attacco” of Foggia, retraces eighty years of history of the Italian national football team on the fields of our region. From the victory against Czechoslovakia in 1947 at the Stadio della Vittoria in Bari, up to the match, also victorious, played last year against Malta.
UNDER 25 SECTION
Winner: Savio Rociola
MOTIVATION OF THE JURY
The presentation of a book becomes a pretext to talk about the experience of parenthood, in particular that born following an adoption. The piece, published in “In Comunione”, a monthly magazine of the Archdiocese of Trani-Barletta-Bisceglie, tells the miracle of what is defined as “a birth of the heart” where, for conception, “just the look is enough”.
