The scenario, in Sanremo, is nothing short of sensational. In a city historically close to the world of the moderate center-right, Forza Italia he concretely risks being left out of the city council. All this after three decades of frontline politics, both in administration and in opposition.

The exclusion of the ‘blues’ was put in black and white with the recount and the official proclamation by the court of Imperia which, in addition to having certified the victory of Alessandro Mager and his appointment as mayor, listed the elected councilors. And among the ranks of the opposition are: Fulvio Fellegara (unelected mayoral candidate), Vittorio Toesca (Generazione Sanremo), Luca Lombardi and Antonino Consiglio (Fratelli d’Italia), Daniele Ventimiglia (Lega), Massimo Rossano (Let’s go!), Marco Damiano and Monica Rodà (Sanremo Domani) and Gianni Rolando (unelected mayoral candidate). Forza Italia is out.

A scenario that was difficult to imagine on the eve of the election but which, considering the outcome of the polls, is now a reality. The only hope lies precisely in the will of mayoral candidate Gianni Rolando. Immediately, a few minutes after the defeat in the run-off, Rolando declared to our microphones that he had no intention of taking his place on the council. A choice which, for the moment, does not seem to have been made official, so much so that his name appears in the official documents of the Imperia court. The Forza Italia world awaits his decision but, in the meantime, is dealing with a first time that is destined to leave its mark: no elected councilor.
In the event of Gianni Rolando’s resignation, the seat on the Forza Italia board would go to Patrizia Badino.
