Everything is ready for the new edition of the Filmare Festival (FMF), promoted and organized by the cultural association “Calabriartes” of Enzo De Carlo and the “DRB” of Beniamino Chiappetta, with the patronage of Rai Calabria, the media partnership of TGR Rai and the recognition of the Ministry of Culture – Directorate General for Cinema and Audiovisual – together with various other patronages and collaborations.
The festival, which will take place over seven days, will feature short films and documentaries focused on the theme of the sea and the environment. The locations involved will be Praia a Mare, the “Cupone” Visitor Center in Camigliatello-Parco della Sila, Cariati, Sibari Lakes and Sangineto, where the final evening will be held.
In addition to training activities dedicated to young directors and filmmakers, the program includes photographic exhibitions, educational stands on biodiversity, the presence of well-known nationally renowned actors and actresses, and the awarding of Special Awards to personalities from the world of cinema, science, journalism, social and entrepreneurship who have stood out for their commitment to environmental issues.
The Filmare Festival also enjoys the patronage of Anci Calabria, the Province of Cosenza and the Sila Park. The 2024 edition is proposed as an opportunity for discussion and reflection between institutions, teachers, companies, stakeholders and experts on environmental issues, promoting the culture of the sea and the environment.
The scientific partners include three departments of the University of Calabria (Environmental Engineering – Diam, Biology, Ecology and Earth Sciences – Dibest, Political and Social Sciences – Dispes), the Cnr Isafom, Arpacal, Sorical, and other collaborations with Enea, Confapi Calabria, the Cosenza Department of the Carabinieri Biodiversity, the Regional Marine Parks Authority, the Unpli Provincial Committee of Cosenza and the Gal Riviera dei Cedri.
The detailed program of the various days and the numerous cultural and artistic activities will be presented on Friday 28 June at 10.30 am in the Hall of Mirrors of the Palazzo della Provincia di Cosenza. The meeting, moderated by the journalist Antonio Stagliano, will see the participation of the mayors of the host municipalities and other institutional authorities, as well as representatives of the scientific partners who will directly illustrate the various activities planned.
The festival is artistically directed by Francesca Piggianelli. The prizes are created by the master goldsmith Michele Affidato and this year will have an original soundtrack created ad hoc by the talented musician and composer from Cosenza Antea.
