TRENT. A day to remember for the members of the Trento section of the Italian Sailors Association, who in recent days received a visit from the team admiral Giuseppe Berutti.
The senior officer, who came to Trento on the occasion of the Festival of Economics, he has the title of sub-chief of the General Staff of the Navy and was welcomed into the company headquarters, located in the “Al Marinaio” restaurant in Trento Sud, by the president Demetrio Spanti and the vice-president Giorgio Martiniformer frigate captain.
Doing the honors will be the “partner – sailor” Giovanni Groff, who showed the senior officer some relics kept in the premises of the headquarters: from the special warning bell – signaling the cannon swing, to the historic wooden wheel rudder of an ancient galleon, from a special pressure gauge and to his father Luigi’s boarding book on the battleship Littorio.
The visit of the Trento section was made possible by the ANMI national president, Admiral Pier Luigi Rosatti, always close to the Trento section, which he had recently visited. Two years ago the participation of a delegation from the Navy on the occasion of the celebrations for the 70th anniversary of the foundation of the Trentino section, with the presence also of the Mayor of Trento Franco Ianeselli.
More recently, Captain Gianfranco Bacchi, 122nd commander of the Italian Navy training ship Amerigo Vespucci, was welcomed.
Launched in 1931, it is now universally recognized as the most beautiful military ship currently in operation in the world. In these months it is engaged in the “seven seas” tour organized to promote Made in Italy on the five continents.
“Alongside the Alpini and Bersaglieri, even a mountain land like Trentino can also boast a particularly active section of former Sailors and this is a source of great pride and the visit of the team admiral Giuseppe Berutti is a source of great pride for everyone we” proudly comments the Trentino section of the Italian Sailors’ Association.
