Cagliari, walking around with fake coins and a baseball bat: two very young Quartes reported. On the crazy night of June 2nd, the Carabinieri of the Radiomobile of Cagliari intervened, reporting two young people for a series of crimes, including counterfeiting coins, illegal possession of weapons and driving while intoxicated. It all started during an ordinary road check in via Paoli, when the military ordered a Honda SH125 motorcycle that was speeding at high speed to stop.

Despite the escape attempt, the Carabinieri managed to stop the vehicle shortly afterwards, at the intersection of via San Giovanni and viale Regina Elena. The two arrested, both residents of Quartu Sant’Elena, aged 18 and 19 and already known to the police force, immediately aroused the military’s suspicions. The search revealed a spiked baseball bat and several fake 20 and 100 euro banknotes. Subsequently, the driver of the scooter was subjected to a breathalyzer, testing positive with a blood alcohol level more than three times the permitted limit. The rapid and efficient action of the Carabinieri avoided potential further crimes, removing dangerous instruments and counterfeit money from the streets, demonstrating once again the importance of territorial control for the safety of citizens.
