Cagliari has a new general manager: Stefano Melis promoted

Cagliari Calcio has ratified the appointment of Stefano Melis as General Manager of the Club, effective July 1, 2024. He will continue to lead the broad spectrum of the business and media areas of Cagliari Calcio, one of the three – together with the corporate and sports areas – that make up the rossoblù corporate structure.

Director of the business and media area since November 2022, Stefano Melis has been at Cagliari since 2018, first as commercial director and then as director of strategic development, before taking on increasingly broader and more direct responsibilities in the marketing and communication areas, revenue lines and the new stadium project. Born in Lanusei in 1979, his professional career includes experiences at Real Madrid in the marketing and new technologies sector, then positions of responsibility in the commercial area of Nike, Puma and Vans. For Nike he was also Global brand director football, from 2015 to 2018, supervising projects in the context of major international football events such as the World Cup, European Championships and Champions League. From 2019 to 2024 he was a member of the Board of Directors of FLUORSID.

“I welcome this appointment with great gratitude and a sense of responsibility towards the president and all my colleagues”, comments Melis. “I am convinced that it is a further push to look forward with an overall vision, continuing to develop what we started a year and a half ago by structuring ourselves into three well-defined areas with precise skills. The synergy with Carlo Catte and Nereo Bonato, together with their respective working groups, continues to represent the fundamental cornerstone for aiming for the next goals, above all to give ever more value to Cagliari Calcio and everything it represents for Sardinia and the Sardinians in the world” .
