Republic Day was celebrated in Terni on Sunday morning to remember the outcome of the institutional referendum with which the popular will sanctioned the birth of the Italian Republic in 1946. The celebration of the 78th anniversary of the Foundation of the Republic began in Piazza Briccialdi where the flag was raised and laurel wreaths were laid at the War Memorial. The ceremony continued in Piazza Tacito where the prefect, Giovanni Bruno, reviewed the picket line, the representations, the banners and the banners. The mixed joint picket was made up of army personnel, airmen, carabinieri, financiers, state police and penitentiary police agents and, for the first time, also navy personnel. The symphonic band of the ‘Giulio Briccialdi’ state music conservatory of Terni performed Mameli’s Hymn and, at the same time, the firefighters of the Terni provincial command lowered the Italian flag on the facade of the Government Palace. This was followed by the reading of the message from the President of the Republic and the presentation of the ‘Al Merito della Repubblica Italiana’ awards, in the presence of the mayors of the municipalities in which the recipients reside. Some vehicles from the armed forces, police forces, firefighters, local police and the Red Cross were exhibited in Corso Tacito.
