He is a young boy, a minor, the driver of a C3 who, around 12pm along Via Pontina Vecchia, lost control of the car, and after braking for about 45 metres, went off the road, hitting a Roman cyclist. Without thinking twice, the boy took the girl who was sitting in the passenger seat and the two fled towards the Cotral stop where, luckily for them, they found a bus stopping and with it they reached the Aprilia station where they took a train to Rome. Fortunately, the Roman cyclist suffered minor injuries (code yellow) but it took the local Aprilia police officers the whole day to track down the hit-and-run driver, a young boy of Roma ethnicity. The owner’s nephew, a woman of Bosnian origins who was resident in the Castel Romano camp but who had left it months ago after obtaining public housing, had entrusted the car to him “for a test drive”. The agents of Aprilia and Rome reached her and she contacted her nephew who reported that he had given the car for a test drive to a young man whom she knew little and who she did not know was a minor but who had disappeared. At that point the pirate was identified and tracked down in the Roma camp and reported to the Rome Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office. He is charged with driving without a license and failure to render aid.
