Salerno, urban decorum: fines also for those who urinate and those who dust carpets in the street

Thank goodness there are many tourists who stop in the city, perhaps stopping in the city’s clubs for dinner or a drink, but there are too many tables and chairs to sit at, this is what the draft of the new urban police regulation says in a nutshell Salerno which contemplates, among other things, a vigorous and rigorous crackdown on illegal occupations of public land. From sight, therefore, a stop to wild tables and chairs: even a rather heavy administrative sanction and failure to comply with a warning not to repeat the abuse will be enough to trigger the temporary closure, for 3 days, of the restaurant, bar or of the pub. The spotlight will also be on respect for decorum and urban hygiene: it will be up to citizens to clean and sanitize pigeon nesting places, it will be forbidden – under penalty of a fine of 500 euros – to carry out bodily needs on the street, in the hope – we add – that the few public toilets in the city are kept in at least acceptable conditions, just as firing firecrackers and writing on walls will no longer be tolerated. It will no longer be allowed to clean carpets, mats, rags and tablecloths by pouring dust and crumbs onto public land.
