PADUA – Over 10 thousand people they invaded the streets of the city of the Saint to celebrate the first day of the “Pride month”. Today, Saturday 1 June, the procession takes place as in Cuneo, Perugia, Enna, Ferrara, Pavia, Savona and Taranto. The procession entitled “out of place Padova Pride 2024” was organized by Arcigay and other local and national associations.
Starting from Piazza de Gasperi around 4.30pm until arriving in the central squares with a break in Piazza delle Erbe and then leaving again returning to the starting point. Many young people and others participated with music, posters, slogans, dances, reflections and lots of colour. In addition to claiming LGBT rights, Pride was a moment to launch an appeal for peace, for a free Palestine and for violence against women. There was no shortage of reflections on Pope Francis’ latest statements and on Giada Zanola’s femicide. Interviews with Andrea Micalizzi, deputy mayor of Padua, Emma Ruzzon, president of the student council, and young people: Zighi Camporese, Beatrice Valinotto and Beatrice Pistone.
