The Carabinieri of the Radiomobile Unit of Catania, in the evening, have A 32-year-old convicted felon was arrested in the “Villaggio Sant’Agata” neighborhood of the place for the crimes of mistreatment of family members and extortion.
In particular, the Operations Center of Catania, having received the a lady’s request for help which had just been attacked by her sonimmediately sent one gazelle of the Army, already employed in a general crime prevention service, in the Villaggio Sant’Agata neighborhood, at the home of the woman, a 57-year-old local.
In those excited moments, the profound knowledge of the territory and the awareness that a timely intervention during these serious events is essential to safeguard the safety of the victims, allowed the soldiers of the Radiomobile Unit to quickly reach the place and, therefore, to avoid the worst.
In the meantime, the crew, having accessed the apartment, found themselves in front of the lady, in a strong state agitationwho however immediately calmed down when she saw the Carabinieri. Reassured therefore from their presence, the victim started to say she was insulted and threatened by her sonfollowing his refusal to yet another request for money.
As if that wasn’t enough, the apartment, inspected by the patrol, still bore iseach of the furious quarrelwith broken ornaments and scattered everywhere on the floor and fist prints on room doors.
Not finding the 32 year old iat home, definitely fled for fear of the imminent arrival of the policethey started immediately research by the Carabinieri, who in a very short time managed to track him down and stop him while he was hidden inside his mother’s car, parked not far away.
Feeling now safe thanks to the presence of the military personnel, the lady began to let off steam, telling her sad story, which had been going on for many years nowduring which her son had always asked her for money and, in the event of a possible refusal, immediately became aggressive.
In particular, that last episode had begun in the afternoon, when the young man, having returned home earlier than usual, had asked his mother for money. In this circumstance, the woman allegedly refused to satisfy him, a response that had infuriated the criminal, who had thus begun to offend and intimidate her, to the point of forcing her to acceptgive him the sum of €10.
Partly satisfied with the money received, the man then left the house for a few hours, but unfortunately it was rreturned to office the same eveningwhen, despite the presence of a neighbor, he asked for money again.
This time, to avoid scenes in the presence of the stranger, the mother had handed it over to her son additional €20, which this time however were not enough for him. In fact, her son had started to insult her and threaten her again, saying: “idiot, yes, but give me all the money, I’ll knock you all over at home….either you give me all the money or I’ll have you leave the house…”
In a flash the young man, extremely agitated, had then gone from words to deeds, starting to rummage through all the ornaments and furnishings, and then throwing them on the floor. Subsequently, not happy, he headed towards his mother’s wardrobe in the other room.
This fury had lasted a few minutesand it would have continued for a long time, if the woman, taking advantage of the temporary absence, had not picked up the phone to call the Carabinieri.
L’attacker was arrested and placed at the disposal of the judicial authoritieswho validated the arrest and ordered the measure of precautionary custody at the Catania prison – Piazza Lanza.
