On the morning of Friday 31 May, the Operations Section of the Carabinieri Company of Taranto, in execution of the precautionary measure application order, arrested a twenty-four year old from Taranto, held responsible for the crime of armed robbery.
The facts date back to the afternoon of December 28th, when a man with his face distorted by a black balaclava pointed a gun at the head of the cashier of a city supermarket, from whom he had the sum of around three hundred euros delivered, fleeing immediately afterwards on a moped.
Pursued for a short distance by the employee of the business, the man, taken by surprise, lost control of the moped, falling to the ground and continuing to flee on foot.
The investigations of the Operations Section began precisely from the abandoned moped – an old model of a well-known brand, in particular when one of the Carabinieri remembered having already seen it in the past, driven by a young man from the area, resembling, in physical features, to the person filmed by the supermarket’s surveillance cameras.
Young man who, on his Facebook profile, a few days before the robbery, published an advert for the sale of that very moped, removing it only later.
The Carabinieri therefore decided to carry out a search of the Tarantino’s home, finding, in the bedroom, a case for a dog repellant gun and a pair of sneakers compatible with those worn by the perpetrator of the robbery.
At the end of the investigations, carried out in synergy with the Taranto Public Prosecutor’s Office, the precautionary custody order was issued against the 24-year-old, who was taken under house arrest at his home.
