The organizers of the Grande Boucle 2024 wanted to give something absolutely unmissable for all cycling enthusiasts, unveiling all 21 stages of the men’s competition at the Palais des Congrès in Paris on 25 October, which will take place from 29 June to 21 July 2024, and the women’s one, scheduled from 12 to 18 August with the great novelty of the departure from Italy. The “Great departure” will start from Florence and as starting locations, in addition to the Tuscan capital, Cesenatico and Piacenza will also be involved. The first three stages will be a clear and explicit homage to as many great champions of Italian cycling: Gino Bartoli, Marco Pantani and Fausto Coppi.

The first stage of the Tour de France is scheduled for June 29, 2024 and will touch the two Italian regions of Tuscany, Emilia Romagna and the Republic of San Marino. The Grande Boucle will start from Florence, in the land of the great Gino Bartali (winner in 1938 and 1948) and Gastone Nencini (in yellow in 1960). The third stage of the Tour de France is scheduled for July 1, 2024 and will first touch Emilia Romagna and then finish in Piedmont. It is a stage dedicated exclusively to sprinters and will be the longest stage of the entire Tour with its 229 kilometers in total. After the departure from Piacenza, the group will pay homage to another great of our cycling, Fausto Coppi, two-time winner of the Yellow Jersey in 1949 and 1952, passing through Tortona, where the Campionissimo died. After leaving the province of Alessandria, the caravan will finally head towards the Piedmont capital for a final sprint. There will be little room for maneuver for the breakaway riders.

The fourth stage of the Tour de France is scheduled for July 2, 2024 and will start in Piedmont and end in France. After a long climb starting from Pinerolo, towards the town of Sestriere, where Coppi triumphed in 1952, the caravan will cross the border into France passing through Montgenèvre. After climbing the Lautaret pass, the riders will tackle the 2,642 meters of the Galibier, which will be the first real opportunity for the favorites to test themselves in the high mountains.
