New sensors to monitor the air in Bitonto

Twelve innovative sensors have been installed in the city for monitoring air quality, a project created by the municipal administration to control the level of pollution in the area. These sensors, developed by the Milanese startup Wiseair and already adopted further 70 Italian municipalitieswill provide clear and transparent data to citizens via the platform “ido“.

The areas of Bitonto monitored include via Traetta, via Sen. Angelini, via Michelangelo, viale Giovanni XXIII, Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, via Crocifisso, via d’Angiò, via Mazzini corner of piazza XXVI May 1734, via Matteotti, Marconi square, Unknown Soldier square (Palombaio) e Piazza Roma (Mariotto). These sensors will integrate data from ARPA control units and European Union satellite surveys, made accessible via the “ido-Wiseair” app.

Following the United Nations Air GEMS paradigm, the goal is to obtain detailed information on air pollution thanks to the use of innovative sensors. The collected data is sent to the Administration via a dedicated dashboard and made available to citizens in real time on the app “ido-Wiseair“, downloadable for free. The app uses the WiseIndex, an index that expresses air quality on a scale from 0 to 100, divided into green, yellow and red bands, allowing citizens to make informed decisions about their daily mobility. The app also allows you to send reports regarding unpleasant odors in the city.

The new service will be presented Tuesday 4 June 2024at 5.00pm, in the Hall of Mirrors of Palazzo Gentile. After the presentation, with the participation of the mayor, the local police councilor and a co-founder of Wiseair, there will be a walk to observe one of the installed sensors and how it works.
