Bari, hunt for summer camps: up to 100 euros for a week

Even up to one hundred euros per week for activities in summer camps in Bari. This is how much families who choose to have their children attend recreational sports activities for the summer season will have to spend.

In the Apulian capital there are many organizations that, for months now, have been organizing themselves to face the warmer months with activities of all kinds. Compared to previous years, some parents complain about a slight increase in costs “justified”, they highlight “by the high prices, but also by the services offered and the possibility of letting the children play outdoors”. The activities, like every year, will start from the week following the closure of school activities, therefore from 10 June. However, registrations have already been open since April. There are various offers, but also the costs which, as always, vary depending on the services

Going deeper into the matter, it becomes increasingly rare to find weekly rates lower than 40 euros. While in previous years there were summer camps that offered weekly fees of 35 euros per child, this year (at least considering the summer camps taken into consideration for the research) they range from 45 to 100 euros per week. In Bari, in the more central areas, considering the different neighborhoods, the costs are slightly higher than in other more peripheral areas. For example, for summer activities in the Molo San Nicola area, dedicated to specific sports, the weekly cost has a basic starting price of 100 euros, with the possibility of subscriptions for 2 weeks (at a cost of 190 euros), 3 weeks (at a cost of 285 euros) and 4 weeks (at a cost of 380 euros). Among the services provided, unlike other camps, a snack is included.

Then there are summer camps at 45 euros per week, with the possibility of a discount for brothers and sisters for a total cost of 80 per week, but also solutions that provide different costs depending on age. In the Fiera del Levante area, for example, the cost is 80 euros per week for children aged 3 to 5 years, 3 weeks 230 euros, 4 weeks 300 euros for external children. From 6 to 16 years old the cost is 70 per week, 200 for 3 weeks and 260 for 4 weeks. Moving to the Japigia area, however, you can also pay 60 euros per week.

Moving towards other more peripheral areas, such as in municipality 5, costs vary further with an increase in prices in some cases. Average prices are very similar for different associations. In a summer camp in Palese the weekly cost is 45 euros, with a daily cost of 12 and discounts for extended options: for 4 weeks the cost is 160 euros per child and for the entire camp 300 euros. In Santo Spirito, however, in a summer camp, the weekly cost is 50 euros per child, with discounts for siblings, but no possibility of taking day trips. Finally, at San Paolo the cost is 50 euros per week, 90 euros for two weeks, 135 euros for three weeks, 160 euros for a month. The times are almost all similar: we start at 8am and finish around 1.30pm or 2pm.

In some cases there is a daily rate that varies from 10 to 15 euros, but not everyone prefers this option. Most associations, in addition to the weekly fee, require additional fees for extra services, such as the swimming pool, the possibility of staying until 3pm and also a registration fee that varies from 20 to 30 euros which includes insurance and kit including t-shirt, backpack, water bottle and much more. The activities vary and range from fencing, to volleyball, to football, but also basketball, handball, Frisbee, artistic activities, but also active citizenship education with the creation of real “villages” where children learn to be citizens of the world, there are also activities dedicated to emotions, music and much more.
