Grosseto: On the occasion of the national week dedicated to headaches, the Misericordia Hospital of Grosseto promotes theMigraine Open Day in collaboration with the Onda ETS Foundation, which since 2007 has awarded the Pink Sticker recognition to hospitals that provide services dedicated to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of the main female pathologies.
On Monday 27 May the Grosseto hospital (three Pink Stickers) will offer, from 3.00 pm to 6.00 pm, free information meetings on migraines and on the therapeutic options used at the headache clinic, located on the second floor of the Misericordia Hospital in Grosseto. “At the Misericordia there is a dedicated specialist clinic which sees around 500 patients a year – underlines Sergio Pieri, director of the Neurology Unit of the Misericordia Hospital – Access takes place via booking with a specialist medical prescription or through the general neurology clinic which will evaluate, in case of emergencies, diverting the patient to the headache clinic for a specific visit”. The clinic dedicated to headaches is located on the second floor of the old Neurology department pavilion of the Misericordia Hospital in Grosseto.
Migraine is a chronic disease that affects approximately 12% of adults worldwide, with a prevalence three times higher in women than men. Recent ISTAT data indicate that the prevalence is growing and that the figure is probably underestimated. Suffice it to say that only 14% of people with headache turn to specialists in the sector and in some cases they do not even consult their doctor.
