Luxury cars, precious watches and pens and lots of money. The soldiers of the Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza of Bologna they executed a confiscation order issued by the Court of Milan – Autonomous Prevention Measures Section pursuant to the Anti-Mafia legislation (Legislative Decree no. 159/2011) against a seventy-year-old entrepreneur “characterized by economic-financial danger”, resident in the Principality of Monaco, but domiciled in the Pavia area and with entrepreneurial interests in the province of Bologna.

The provision, which became definitive following the inadmissibility of the appeal presented to the Court of Cassation, comes at the end of a long judicial affair, which began in 2014 which led to the conviction, in first instance, of imprisonment for 6 years for bankruptcy crimes fraudulent assets and documents – deriving from the bankruptcy of a limited company based in Bologna – and failure to declare.

The GdF investigations

The Bolognese Fiamme Gialle had highlighted the “criminal curriculum” of the suspect characterized by numerous so-called “profit-making crimes” (illicit wealth – ed.) and by the systematic personal tax evasion or through companies attributable to him, leading to the accumulation of an enormous debt towards the treasury, behaviors that have allowed “a very comfortable lifestyle, in stark contrast to the paltry income profile (around 180 thousand euros in total from 1979 to today)”, explains the Guardia di Finanza.

Being domiciled in the Pavia area, the investigations of the Economic-Financial Police Unit of Bologna then continued, in the present investigative context, under the coordination of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Pavia, with the request and subsequent application of the asset prevention measure in question.

The definitive seizure

Assets with a total value of 15 million euros have become state property:

– 7 prestigious cars, including Range Rover, Bentley, Audi and Mercedes-Benz;

– movable goods, watches and collectible pens, for over 350 thousand euros;

– financial resources (liquid or lying in bank relationships) for approximately 724 thousand euros;

– 9 properties (land and buildings), including n. 3 villas located in the Pavia area (of which 2 with park and swimming pool) and a very luxurious “Californian” style villa (overlooking the sea), located in France, in Roquebrune-Cap Martin, this alone worth around 7 million euros . During the investigations it emerged that the real estate complex and two valuable cars were fictitiously attributed to third parties to avoid seizure. For this reason, he was first subjected to a personal precautionary measure and then sentenced in an abbreviated manner to a prison sentence of 1 and 6 months.
