Inclusive playground inaugurated – L’Aquila

THE EAGLE. Inaugurated in the park of Piazza Italia, in Santa Barbara, the inclusive play area with full and shared accessibility. This is a redevelopment intervention carried out by the municipal administration and presented in the presence of the mayor Pierluigi Biondiof the deputy mayor with responsibility for the Reconstruction of Public Goods and Disability Manager Raffaele Danieleof the Councilor for the Environment Fabrizio Taranta and the Tourism Councilor Ersilia Lancia. Some guests of the XXIV Luglio Community and students of the Santa Barbara primary school and athletes of the Special Olympics and Atletica L’Aquila sports clubs also took part in the initiative. The project, «strongly desired by the Office of the Disability Manager in close synergy with the “Ecological Transition” sector of the institution, extends over approximately 150 square meters, thus expanding the previous entrance», the Municipality states. «Fenced and with anti-trauma rubber flooring, it has been set up with structures with specific technical characteristics, such as the swing and the inclusive carousel, the play village with ramp and an area with colored play panels».
Inclusive games are designed to allow the little ones “to share moments of leisure without barriers or divisions”.
«The goal», declared those present, «was to create a stimulating, safe and fun place for everyone, regardless of their level of physical ability. The aim is to let children play and interact in a welcoming environment.”
