«Carmina Burana» will close the fourth edition of Città in note, in Cuneo. The «mega» performance with over one hundred and fifty performers of Orff’s masterpiece, at the Palazzetto dello Sport, will be the worthy finale of six days of «music in places».
«This work, a scenic cantata for soloists, choir and orchestra, known by all at least for the epic opening with the choir of “O Fortuna” fits perfectly with the theme of this edition of Città in notes: “Music and image”. In fact, the subtitle of the work is “Profane songs to be sung by the singers and the choir, accompanied by instruments and magical images”».
Mattia Sismonda, president of the Ghedini Conservatory of Cuneo, thus introduced, at the presentation of the Festival organized by the Artea Foundation with the Municipality, the event which tomorrow evening will conclude in the most engaging way the program curated by Claudio Carboni and Carlo Maver. At the Sports Hall, at 8.45 pm, the Ghedini choir and orchestra will take their seats, directed by Gianrosario Presutti and Massimo Peiretti, who will be joined by the Castello di Rivoli polyphonic choir, the Choir of the Società Corale Città di Cuneo, the Boves Polyphonic Choir and the Marquisate Polyphonic Choir, each with its own director. An impressive ensemble that represents the spirit of «City in notes»: a great collective celebration of music in all its expressions. Today “green notes” dominate, the result of collaboration this year for the first time with the Società Orticola Piemonte which enhances the encounter between nature and music. It starts at 10.30, at the River Park in the garden of the Casa del Fiume with the concert “for little ears” by the Apm School of Saluzzo, followed at 11, in the area of the f’Orma route, by two performances of the show musical theater «Il Mototrabasso» by Luigi Lullo Mosso. The Mototrabasso is the unlikely “son” of a double bass and a motorcycle. We reach Via Roma, at 12, for the parade of the traveling brass band Mefisto, and then again the River Park welcomes, at 3.30 pm, in the garden of the Casa del Fiume, “Musica in the garden” with the students of the city schools. To listen to them, not chairs, but plaids and cushions spread out on the grass. Project Har, Insieme Musica, Voice Art Academy and Liceo Artistico e Musicale Ego Bianchi participate with their formations.
Tomorrow, the last day of a festival which gave great satisfaction to the organizers due to the many sold out events, at the Toselli, in the «night time» concerts in San Francesco «night effect» and in Santa Chiara where yesterday the Bruni Orchestra celebrated with a high-level performance, entrusted to a transgenerational training of interpreters, the hundredth anniversary of the birth of maestro Giovanni Mosca. In tomorrow’s programme, at 3pm, Claudio Carboni’s conversation with Claudio Buja, president of Universal Music Publishing Ricordi, publisher, journalist and record producer, on «Copyright in the streaming era», in the Mosca room of the Conservatory stands out . At 4.30 pm in Sala San Giovanni, «Pills of musical education». Then the grand finale with «Carmina Burana», introduced at 8.30 pm by a precious «listening guide» held by the musicologist Giovanni Bietti.
