Atalanta-Turin, the precedents: in recent years pyrotechnic matches

In view of Atalanta-Turin, a match valid for the 38th day of the Serie A championship, here are the precedents between the two teams

There is less and less left until the end of the Serie A championship. Atalanta and Torino will compete at the Gewiss Stadium on Sunday 26 May: for the Granata it will be a match they must win to hope for qualification for the Conference League. On the other hand, the Nerazzurri no longer have anything to ask of the championship, having already qualified for the next edition of the Champions League. What will take place over the weekend will be the fifty-seventh match in Bergamo in the top championship, with a total of 16 wins, 22 draws and 17 defeats for the Granata. It should be underlined that in recent years the matches between Atalanta and Torino have been particularly spectacular, with many goals scored on both sides.

The last precedent

The last previous match in Bergamo was played on September 1, 2022. Atalanta won, 3-1. The hat-trick from an irrepressible Koopmeiners was decisive, to which Vlasic responded with a useless goal. The Dutchman scored two goals from penalties, in a particularly foul and heated match from a disciplinary point of view.

The pyrotechnic 4-4

On 27 April of the same year Atalanta and Torino gave a pure spectacle in Bergamo. The final result was 4-4: Torino had taken the lead in the first half, with Sanabria’s goal. Then came the reaction of the Nerazzurri, who took the lead with first Muriel and then De Roon. Just before the break, however, Toro had equalised, thanks to the penalty converted by Lukic. In the second half the Granata took off, again with a penalty from Lukic and then with an own goal from Freuler. But Pasalic and Muriel brought the result back into balance a few minutes from the end.

Toro’s last victory

On September 1, 2019, the Granata’s last victory arrived at the Dea. In Bergamo it ended 2-3 in favor of Mazzarri’s men, who took the lead through Bonifazi. Then Atalanta turned the result around with a brace from Duvan Zapata, but Berenguer and Izzo gave Toro the three points.
