Cesena, 23 May 2024 – The Monte Abbey, with a loan of 2 million 900 thousand euros is at the top of the list of 10 sites in some dioceses of Romagna that need to be made safe: churches, abbeys, monasteries, towers and bell towers, for a disbursement that exceeds 4 million euros in Cesenate alone. This was announced by the deputy and president of the regional coordination of Forza Italia of Emilia-Romagna, Rosaria Tassinari which underlines that the approval finally comes from the Ministry of Culture as part of the Pnrr funding. “These loans – underlines the Honorable Member – are being examined by the Court of Auditors and will have to be spent, as required by the rules of the Pnrr funds, by 2026”.

There MP thanks the Minister of Culture Gennaro Sangiuliano for their interest, the bishops of the various dioceses and the ecclesiastical leaders of the various structures, who awaited the provision with concern. “The ecclesiastical heritage, in fact – continues in a note – must not only be secured for the present, but also to plan the future and rethink the many presences that characterize not only Romagna or a region, but the entire national territory ”.

To reiterate how the commitments made during the visit to the city by Minister Sangiuliano have been maintained and once again certify the attention of the Meloni Government towards our territory is also Alice Buonguerrieri, deputy and provincial president of Fratelli d’Italia: “For the Abbey of Monte – he goes into detail – an important intervention to consolidate the structure is planned, given the structural criticalities present: fissures, cracks and uneven floors due to the movements of the ground; a particularly serious situation especially in the so-called Manica Lunga, the large corridor located on the first floor of the northern portion of the Monastery: here the lesions are evident in the walls, floors and vaults. There are also significant lesions in the corridor of the Monastery Library. The recovery project aims first of all to slow down the phenomena of instability that cause these structural problems, and then proceed with the architectural recovery: therefore we are talking about foundation curbing, consolidation with micropiles and interventions on the floors and roofs”.

Also for the Cathedral of Cesena, funds equal to are arriving 240,000 euros. The Cathedral has wall damage “but it is on the bell tower – continues Buonguerrieri – that the most important interventions will be concentrated to improve the behavior of the bell tower during a possible seismic event”, while a new bell tower system will minimize the stress on the walls during the functioning of the bells”. The news is also welcomed by Marco Casali, candidate for mayor of the centre-right in Cesena “so that the great cultural masterpieces of the city can be maintained and made available to our great community”. Luca Lucarelli, municipal coordinator of Fratelli d’Italia, is on the same wavelength. Pnrr funds will also go to the church of Madonna in Quarto (Sarsina) for 185,000 euros, to the church of Sant’Apollinare di Longiano 130,000 euros, to the church of San Lorenzo di Sogliano al Rubicone 325,000 euros.
