MONTESILVANO. Seafront prohibited to cars again this summer. As has been the case for several years, the outgoing mayor’s administration will also apply for the next bathing season Ottavio De Martinis has decided to confirm the pedestrian area on Viale Aldo Moro to allow the safe carrying out of the many free summer events, but also to give residents and tourists the opportunity to stroll and shop among the markets scheduled on the different days of the week.
PEDESTRIAN ISLAND As stated in the resolution approved in recent days by the executive, for the summer of 2024 the limited traffic zone will be in force on the coast starting from 30 June and until 31 August, involving every day the stretch between the large hotels and Europe avenue. The “short” island, scheduled from Monday to Wednesday, will be expanded on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, also involving the stretch of seafront between Viale Europa and Viale Abruzzo. The version of the long pedestrian area will remain in force every day between 12 and 18 August. For the entire period of the pedestrian area, from 8pm to half past midnight, the seafront will be enriched by various food trucks selling sweets, sandwiches and snacks, from Largo Venezuela to Via Abruzzo, with the exception of the stretch between Corso Strasburgo and Via Petrarca. Moving on to entertainment, the council document also dictates the days and times in which the markets promoted in collaboration with local associations are scheduled.
MONDAY AND FRIDAY The first will be the one that will be staged on Monday and Friday, from 8pm to half past midnight on the seafront, between Corso Strasburgo and Via Leopardi, where the artisans of the “Fatto con il cuore” association will sell their creations. On Tuesday, from 6pm to midnight, it will be the turn of the market promoted by Aima – Cna which will be hosted in Corso Strasburgo, which is also closed to traffic.
Wednesday and Thursday On Wednesday, from 6pm to midnight, again in Corso Strasburgo, multi-ethnic accessories and clothing will be on display, while on Thursday, at the same time but in Viale Europa, there will be space for the “Stalls of curiosities” organized by the Faica association. And again, every Wednesday and Friday, from 6pm to midnight, in Piazza Kennedy, in the area of ​​the large hotels, the market will be staged by the “Creativity in the Square” association.
CHILDREN On Friday, from 6pm to half past midnight, the children’s market promoted by the “Amare Montesilvano” association will return, which will allow small traders to sell books, toys and other things in the Pala Dean Martin square.
ALL WEEK Furthermore, the market organized by Confesercenti is scheduled every day of the week, from 5pm to 1am, in the wooden houses set up in Largo Venezuela and on the sea side of the Riviera, near Via Petrarca.
CONCERTS In this context, most of the concerts of the 16 big names that will enliven the summer will be staged at the theater of the sea. Concerts have already been announced by Tazenda (6 July), Mietta (13 July), Edoardo Bennato (18 July), Clementino (27 July), Nick The Nightfly (30 July), Sarah Jane Morris (31 July), Sergio Cammariere (1 August), Fabio Concato (2 August), Santi Francesi (10 August), Michele Zarrillo (15 August), the Chameleons (17 August), Piero Mazzocchetti (18 August) and Noemi (22 August).
