Operations will begin at 7pm
The draw for the Palio on 2 July will be held on Sunday 26 May
With the announcement to the public through the blasts of the Palace Trumpets, next Sunday, May 26, at 7 pm, the draw operations for the Palio of July 2, 2024 will begin. The flags of the Contrade drawn by lot will be displayed at the conclusion of the operations and always announced by the blasts of trumpets, on the first floor of the Town Hall and will be added to those of Valdimontone, Pantera, Bruco, Leocorno, Lupa, Civetta and Oca, which will directly run the July Career and whose flags will be displayed on the three-light windows of the palace since the morning.
The drawing operations will begin at 7 pm inside a room of the Town Hall in the presence of the Mayor of Siena Nicoletta Fabio, who will have the task of presiding over the meeting, and the Captains of the seventeen Contrade, according to the articles contained in chapter III (titled “Of the preparatory draws and of the move”) of the “Regulations for the Palio”.
Having seen the same articles of the regulation and the resolutions of the municipal council last November, with which the exclusion of participation in a Palio and the respective trials of the Nobile Contrada dell’Aquila and the exclusion for a total of two Palios was ordered and the related tests of the Contrada della Torre, please note that, in the event of a random draw, the flag of the Nobile Contrada dell’Aquila and the flag of the Contrada della Torre will be displayed in the last positions of the windows on the second floor, in alphabetical order.
