TERNANA-BARI, Breda: “The city of Terni deserves to keep Serie B”

Eve day at the Ternana house. Tomorrow Roberto Breda’s team will be busy at the “Libero Liberati” in Terni. Against Giampaolo’s red and white, the red and green are called upon to achieve their seasonal objective: salvation in the second leg playout

TERNANA-BARI, ROBERTO BREDA’S PRESS CONFERENCE

How much does it weigh to play a season in 90 minutes after 40 tight games? What weight is it?

“The emotional load is great but we have to do it in the best possible way. The focus is all there, in having multiple plans in place because in the end we have to direct the energy we have where we want it and try to be the most ready as possible in a match that is worth a season. While in a play off you maintain the category in any case, this certainly has a very important and vital specific weight but I believe it is much more important to focus on what we can find, then the we’ll see later. We need to be able to manage any episodes, if we have a common management of what to do on the pitch it can certainly help us”;

Will Bari change something, will Ternana’s attitude be that of Bari or will you change something?

“We know what our strengths and characteristics are. Among these there is certainly respect for the opponent and how they manage the pitch, we have seen over time that we have a certain well-marked identity and that certain things are what make us play the best matches, on this we must be good at doing them and repeating them, knowing that tomorrow’s match is a match that may also require something that we haven’t tried, which is why we must be ready to find all the solutions possible with the desire and determination of those who are aware of the path they have taken and the effort they have made to get here. Everything is contained in 90 minutes, there is no further analysis, either yes or no this time , for this reason we must all be ready to do the maximum possible”;

In this last match what will you say before entering the pitch?

“Certainly there are two analyzes that need to be done: one is internal to the group and is the awareness of the path we have taken together and it is the one that highlights what we have felt and where we have gone, this remains with us because it is part of our individual path and team. The second is that this doesn’t matter for others, only those who are registered in the Serie B championship matter and we must remember that everything that is done will remain in your life, the results and everything we can count give tomorrow we must put it on the field”;

What do you fear most about Bari? And then, is the first leg result more of an advantage or a disadvantage for the team?

“Bari has valuable players, it has important performers, we saw it last Thursday when they played two different games in the same one. We must have maximum respect for their characteristics, their personalities and their value. We must play as we did on Thursday, with a lot of confidence and with the awareness of what we know how to do. The result matters little, we are both at 50%, and the fact that this time we are at our house with a full house must be a great additional weapon but it must not bring easy enthusiasm because we must all know together that a great battle awaits us and that we will all have to suffer together. The team knows it, the city knows it, and therefore we must not underestimate anything but we want to do well”;

How did your week go? Do you have any superstitious rituals?

“The week went well, it was more of a week of management than anything else as it should be at the moment. I’m not particularly superstitious, sometimes it makes me laugh to think about these things. It’s right that it should be like this, at the in the end we need to go to the field without making too many small talk. I’m not saying that nothing exists but it will be the field that will decide the verdict”;

Ternana achieved an important result in the first leg. For you, the most difficult aspect is managing this small advantage?

“No, it’s the incidents that make the management because we saw it last week too, you go in and completely change the game, you score and return everything. You can’t say it’s easy, it’s how you react to the incidents that makes the difference , we’re not talking about management but about continuous adaptation to what happens and I believe that the difficulties at the moment are the same for both teams. It’s the first time that as a coach I find myself playing a play-out, it’s different than playing a play-offs”;

Bari changed their way of playing in the second half by introducing Maita, have you studied countermeasures or will it be essential to score immediately and put yourself in a position to manage the advantage?

“We have certainly evaluated this tactical change and I believe that there may be other changes that may arise, we must be ready for anything. They are not two things that cancel each other out, in the sense that the idea of playing to score goals can go very well with the ability to manage the non-possession phase, as if it were a chess game in your move there is both attack and defense. We have to be good in all these situations and I believe that they will not finish the game in the same way as they will start the game , and therefore even there, regardless of the result, we must be good at interpreting it”;

Do Bari’s constant coaching changes make him less readable?

“For those who analyze it you have less history because you only have the matches played by Giampaolo even if there may be other situations and certain characteristics of the players go a little beyond the tactical dynamics. All these things are part of the analysis of the match knowing that Bari is a team that will be less precise in certain classifications such as Pisa or Catanzaro for example but which has many players who know how to do many things, we must also be attentive to their unpredictability”;

Who would you remove from Bari?

“It’s a team that has values, it has many players that I personally like. But then there’s our battle, we need to think about who’s there”;

Is it right for Ternana and Bari to fight to stay in Serie B or should there have been another team?

“With the ifs and buts, it could have been many other teams. We have had many games that we were unable to bring home for nothing. We will think about it later, hoping not to have any regrets. The play outs are between us and Bari , with the utmost respect we must do everything to bring them home”;

Is it a decisive match also for your future at Ternana?

“In salvation there is an automatic option, I believe that at this moment the thoughts of all of us are others”;

Do you get anyone back?

“No”;

Tomorrow Iannarilli?

“We see”;

Will the public tomorrow be an advantage or a disadvantage?

“I really liked the last home match against Catanzaro where the team and the public all worked towards a common goal, and tomorrow the public’s response is beautiful. The concept must be the same, knowing that it is a difficult match where we must be united even in moments of difficulty. Then we have to play on the pitch, but we will know that there will be an entire city behind us to push us. We are responsible for a category for a city that deserves it.”
