WHAT EMOTIONS YOU FEEL – «Positive and negative, but it’s been a couple of months where I had the feeling that the end was now and there’s a new adventure now.”
THE END HAS COME AT THE RIGHT TIME – “Yes. In my 4-year journey I have reached a good point but I could have given more but it is the right time”.
WHERE HE WILL PLAY‘ – «My future is in three parts: I have a week to be available for the last match at San Siro. Then there is an adventure with Denmark and then I have to find the club where I can continue playing football, together with my family.”
EMOTIONS FOR THE NEW ADVENTURE – «Zero fear. I think I’ve tried so much in my career, I have the experience to understand that fear doesn’t give you anything. I have great curiosity and a great desire to have an impact on a group as I have done here”.
YEARS AT MILAN – «As I have said many times, I came to Italy when I was 19 years old at Palermo. There I immediately told my agent: “I want to go to Milan”. It took some time, but in the end I came here and this is my company, my place and it will always be like this. When I arrived here, Milan was in a very difficult period for many years. Paolo and Ricky brought me here to make an impact especially on young people, to give continuity and make the group grow. I think I’ve done my job.”
THIS IMPACT WAS EXPECTED AT MILAN – «It always depends on the group. Zlatan also came with me, so I never needed to scream. I could work harder on each person, make them see that you had to arrive early to work and leave late. When I arrived 2 or 3 were in the gym, now everyone. It’s been a journey, now there’s no one to relax.”
LET THE GROUP GROW – «Quality is not enough. To make the team grow you have to suffer, have the right mentality and work. This way you can grow the group. In the world of football, mentality rules, because everyone knows how to play football. In those 4 years, few in Europe did what we did.”
WHAT DID YOU SEE IN THE GROUP AT THE BEGINNING – «Quality, otherwise you can’t talk about the Scudetto. Even true AC Milan fans wouldn’t have thought about that Scudetto.”
INJURY IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP YEAR – «If I could change one thing I would change the injury, even if it made me grow a lot. You have to take advantage of the moments. It’s been easier for me to find pure joy in my work, but also at home with my kids and wife. I was aware of what I was doing before, but now it’s maybe double. If you made 10 you start to make 9,8,7 but you have to understand where you lost 10%. If you put all this together it becomes a lot and the team can still grow even more.”
