Fondazione Architetti Bergamo, Order of Architects PPeC Bergamo with the VeloNotte International association, the Municipality of Bergamo, A.Ri.Bi., Openarch and Architectuul will bring VeloNotte back to Bergamo on 25 May, a project which aims to expand, promote and make learn about architecture and urban history in an innovative, fun and sustainable way.
The route will be a surprise revealed on the evening of the cycle exploration, which will start at 7pm. The starting and arrival points will be the Donizetti Theater and the Sentierone: we will proceed according to an itinerary which in this second edition changes tone leading to the discovery of its meadows and of its squares. All told, as per the proven VeloNotte formula, by architects and historians whose voices will explain, deepen and open windows on the recent urban and social history of the city and its neighborhoods.
The program also includes musical pieces written specifically for VeloNotte by the group The Useless Youth and will culminate with two original live musical performances, by Dwarf and Francesca Remigi.
According to Sergej Nikitin-Rimsky: “The new route wants to tell the history of the city through public spaces and buildings. Starting from the Bergamo Belle Époque, when the Piacentinian Center was born in 1907, a sequence of elegant squares-living rooms built despite the Great War, we will arrive at the post-World War II neighborhoods, where the squares didn’t even plan. The works of Marcello Piacentini will await us, a protagonist of the architecture of the first part of the Italian twentieth century who had his first great debut in Bergamo. This will be followed by the masterpieces of the great Bergamo masters such as Alziro Bergonzo, Francesco Ginoulhiac and Teresa Arslan and Pino Pizzigoni”.
