“We are waiting for the star for Genoa”

CHIAVARI – “I have always been from Genoa since I was a child. Now I dream of the star.” The former Juventus and national team goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon, guest of the Mimmo Angeli Journalism Award in Chiavari, was literally overwhelmed by the embrace of hundreds of children queuing for a photo or an autograph. Many of them didn’t even see him play but Buffon became a legend.

“I say to these guys, have a dream and never give up – Gianluigi’s words – it has always been a life philosophy of mine and I have always gotten along very well with others and among others. When you dream and then reach certain goals you don’t have the presumption that everything is owed to you and therefore you understand that you have merit and also had good luck”.

Stankovic and Martinez?
“Two goalkeepers who have an important future. Martinez has obviously done more having played well in Serie A. But both have excellent prospects in front of them.”

Do you support Genoa?
“A passion born since I was a boy. We are still waiting for the star. But I must say that over the years also thanks to certain guys like Gianluca Vialli I have also started to appreciate Sampdoria. I can’t support them despite always being very fond of Genoa” .
