A packed council chamber as on special occasions provided a worthy setting for the awards ceremony of the first “mother’s heart” literary competition reserved for primary and secondary schools in the city of Modica.
The literary prize was established in memory of Mrs. Bianca Giunta and was promoted by the Scarso family.
The mayor Maria Monisteri, the councilor for educational policies, Chiara Facello and the president of the City Council, Maria Cristina Minardo, immediately welcomed the project, contributing actively and with great enthusiasm to its practical implementation and acting as a precious and indispensable glue with all the city schools.
This year’s theme was: “mother’s hugs” and it was of great inspiration for all the students who participated in the prize in large numbers, considering the very high quality of the works which gave the qualified jury that examined it a serious hard time. the children’s work. It included professor Lucia Trombadore, the illustrator Rosa Cerruto, the journalist Giada Drocker, the actress Simona Celi.

The prizes up for grabs consisted of a voucher of 250 euros for first place, 150 for second and 100 for third place. Half of the corresponding sum was donated to books that can be freely chosen by the winner.
Each class to which the winner of the competition belongs was assigned a sum of 100 euros each to be spent on teaching materials according to the instructions of the school director.
Great satisfaction for the great and qualified participation of Modica students in the first edition of the award was expressed by the Mayor Maria Monisteri, her councillor, Chiara Facello and the Prime Minister, Mariacristina Minardo.
The Scarso family thanked all those who were an active part in this beautiful project, already making an appointment for the next edition.
