THE EAGLE. A council resolution to bring order to the chaos seasonal concessions of public land for outdoor tables and dehors. This is the card that the Municipality intends to play to save the summer season for tourists, traders and residents of the historic center, already harassed by construction sites and the related access difficulties.

As confirmed by the deputy mayor Raffaele Daniele, the administration is also examining the definitive regulation for the concession of public land in L’Aquila which will therefore be capable of taking into account the new urban spaces, the decorum and the specific climatic needs of the capital. «We have encountered difficulties regarding the concession of public land due to the fact that the authorization requests are arriving in batches, overlapping. Which does not allow us to be able to carry out planning tout-court, therefore capable of also taking into account any changes to the road system to be adopted based on the presence of dehors and tables or not”, explains Daniele. «The resolution that we are about to bring to the council will allow us to make, through a very rapid expression of interest, a precise recognition of all these requests, but as a whole, so as to have a complete mapping of all the areas and to be able, to consequently, define detailed plans area by area. By the first of June we will therefore be in a position to issue the requested authorizations coinciding with the arrival of the summer”, he assures. And he adds, regarding the L’Aquila that will emerge from the construction sites: «The new plan on the dehors which we will approve next year.” A plan, according to the deputy mayor, characterized by «greater attention to urban decoration and spaces, but at the same time also capable of taking into account the fact that, since ours is a mountain city, in cold periods there is the need to have a greater protection of tables and, therefore, of covered structures”. A breath of fresh air amidst the dust of construction sites, therefore, especially for traders, who for months now have been dealing with the shrinking of spaces, customers and takings, and who have long been focusing on the good season to recover.
