Friday 17 May at 10.30 am press conference with CGIL and SPI CGIL Taranto

The privatization of Italian post it is harmful, divisive, an attack on work, but also on the communities that lose a great social function and legality in the territories with postal counters.

Thus Tiziana Ronsisvalle, new general secretary of the SLC CGIL of Taranto, who together with the general secretary of the CGIL of Taranto, Giovanni D’Arcangelo and the general secretary of the SPI CGIL of Taranto, Paolo Peluso, announces a conference for Friday 17 May at 10.30 am press at the headquarters of the Chamber of Labour, in via Dioniso, 20.

We are talking about a reality which in many municipalities of the province is synonymous with public presence, but which paradoxically, in the face of the proclamations of social, economic and productive diversification of our reality, leaves some territories absolutely deprived of the service – says the secretary of the SLC – just think that in Castellaneta Marina, the tourist vocation is made a mockery of by leaving the post office in the hands of just one worker. The same goes for Grottaglie. Or like in Martina where the post office only opens three times a week.

And it is the new industrial plan that worries the unions.

The details of this further extensive privatization are not yet known – says Tiziana Ronsisvalle – but we know that the 60 post offices and 500 employees operating in the province of Taranto are at risk, because cuts, downsizing and even closures are predicted in the municipalities below of the 5 thousand inhabitants.

The detail will be exposed during the press conference that will take place Friday 17 May at 10.30 am at the CGIL headquarters in via Dioniso, 20.
