«We are tired of stopped ambulances, the Cosenza case is an unresolved problem»

COSENZA – “The Calabrian healthcare situation has reached a critical point. Occhiuto’s many statements, which describe an idyllic world, clash dramatically with the daily reality that the citizens of our region are forced to face. The Cosenza case emblematically represents an unresolved problem which afflicts the entire Calabrian territory”. This was stated by the group leader of the 5 Star Movement in the Region, Davide Tavernise.

“Despite the promises and announcements – he continues – the reality is that there is a lack of medical and healthcare personnel necessary to ensure adequate care. The ambulances, although new and well equipped, remain parked in the stations, unable to carry out their fundamental emergency response task. This bleak picture translates into growing difficulties for citizens who need urgent medical care and an emergency system that fails to adequately respond to users’ needs. As a political force we express our deep concern for the current state of Calabrian healthcare.

It is clear that the centre-right, currently in charge of regional healthcare, has failed on all fronts. Lack of staff and inefficient management of available resources are demanding problems immediate and decisive interventions“. “We can no longer tolerate – concludes Tavernise – that the health of citizens is compromised by inadequate management and broken promises. There is an urgent need for a change of direction that puts the right to health at the center and guarantees an efficient health service accessible to all. We strongly ask for concrete and immediate interventions to resolve these serious problems. It’s time for words to turn into actions, that ambulances no longer remain parked and that Calabrian citizens can finally count on a healthcare system that truly responds to their needs”.
