Perugia, Manu in mourning: Dorica Manconi has died

The Manu in mourning. “We salute Dr. Dorica Manconi, formidable archaeologist and scholar, former director of the National Archaeological Museum of Umbria, assiduous visitor of our library. In her role as an official of the Archaeological Superintendency for Umbria she has spent, in particular, on the territories of Valnerina, Todi, Spoleto and Gubbio. Dedicated many years and energy to the protection and valorisation of the Umbrian archaeological heritage, which – with you – loses a protagonist and a point of reference”, we read in the Museum’s Facebook post.

And again: “Thanks to his passion and commitment, it was possible to organize the exhibition entitled “The Magic of Amulets. Umbria and Sardinia near or far? Collecting and archaeology”, exhibited at the Giovanni Lilliu Center – Barumini (SU) 3 February – 20 June 2024: an exhibition that was strongly desired, to bring together finds and artefacts preserved in Perugia with those of your homeland, Sardinia. Thank you Dorica, we will miss seeing you walking, observing, talking, studying, but above all protecting ours Work”.
